Terms of Service

Effective: April 15, 2026

Welcome to Spontany. These terms govern your use of the Spontany web application at spontany.io ("the Service"), operated by Ran Mer ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

Plain-language summary: Use Spontany to coordinate your schedule with the people you trust. Be respectful, don't abuse the service, and understand that we're a small team doing our best to build something great for you.

1. What Spontany Is

Spontany is a scheduling and coordination tool designed for people managing shared custody arrangements. It helps you share availability with partners, co-parents, and friends so you can make plans without the back-and-forth.

Spontany is delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA). There is no native app store download — you access it through your browser and can optionally install it to your home screen.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. Spontany is not intended for use by minors.

3. Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. One account per person — don't create multiple accounts or share your login with others.

If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately.

4. How You Can Use Spontany

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use Spontany for its intended purpose: managing your schedule and coordinating plans with people you've invited to connect with you.

You agree not to:

Don't do these things:

Use Spontany to harass, stalk, or monitor another person without their knowledge or consent.

Share someone else's custody schedule or personal information outside the app without their permission.

Attempt to access another user's data, reverse-engineer the Service, or probe for vulnerabilities.

Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Service.

Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of everything you enter into Spontany — your schedule, events, profile information, and uploaded images. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and the people you've chosen to share with.

We don't claim any ownership over your data and we won't use your content for marketing, training, or any purpose beyond running the app — unless you give us explicit permission (like a testimonial).

6. Partner & Friend Invitations

When you invite someone to connect on Spontany, they receive a link to create an account or accept the connection. By sending an invitation, you confirm that you have a legitimate reason to share calendar information with that person and that they would reasonably expect to receive the invitation.

Each connection type (partner, co-parent, friend) has different visibility levels. You're responsible for understanding what each role can see before assigning it. Details are available in the app and in our Privacy Policy.

7. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, you'll receive alerts about new invitations, plan updates, and other scheduling events. You can disable notifications at any time through your browser settings. We won't send you marketing messages via push notifications.

8. Availability & Reliability

We aim to keep Spontany available 24/7, but we're a small team and can't guarantee uninterrupted service. There may be downtime for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues. We'll do our best to notify you in advance of planned maintenance.

Spontany is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties — express or implied — regarding uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spontany and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes (but is not limited to) missed plans, scheduling conflicts, data loss, or relationship disputes arising from information shared through the app.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for free users, is zero).

10. Termination

You can stop using Spontany at any time. To delete your account and data, email us at the address below and we'll process it within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly in cases of harassment, abuse, or unauthorized access attempts. If we terminate your account, we'll tell you why (unless legally prohibited from doing so).

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel.

13. Severability

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Spontany regarding your use of the Service.
