Privacy Policy

Effective: April 15, 2026

Spontany ("we," "us," or "our") is a scheduling app designed to help people with shared custody coordinate plans with partners and friends. We take your privacy seriously — especially because we know the data you share with us is personal.

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

The short version: We collect only what's needed to make scheduling work. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads inside the app. You can delete your account and data at any time.

1. What We Collect

DataWhy We Need It
Email address Account creation, login, notifications, and partner invitations
Name / display name So your partners and friends can identify you in the app
Custody schedule Core functionality — showing when you have your kids so others can plan around it
Calendar entries Events, availability, and plans you create or participate in
Partner & friend connections Linking your calendar to people you choose to share with
Push notification token Sending you timely alerts (new invites, plan updates). You can opt out anytime.
Uploaded images Profile photos or images attached to events/opportunities
Device & browser info Basic diagnostics to keep the app running smoothly (browser type, screen size, error logs)

2. What We Don't Collect

We do not collect your precise GPS location, contacts list, phone number (unless you provide it voluntarily), financial or payment information, or any data from other apps on your device. Spontany is a Progressive Web App — it does not have access to your phone's native features beyond what you explicitly grant (like push notifications).

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the Spontany service. Specifically, we use it to display your custody schedule to people you've approved, coordinate group availability among your friend circle, send notifications about plans and invitations, and improve app performance and fix bugs.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the scheduling features you signed up for.

4. Who Can See Your Data

Spontany is built around controlled sharing. Here's how visibility works:

RoleWhat They See
You (owner) Everything — your full calendar, custody schedule, all connections
Partner Your shared custody calendar and mutual plans
Co-parent Custody day types (R/Z days) relevant to coordination
Friends Your availability (not custody details) and shared group plans

No one outside your approved connections can see your calendar or custody schedule. There is no public profile or discoverability — people can only connect with you through a direct invitation link.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted services to operate Spontany:

ServicePurposeData Shared
Railway Cloud hosting All app data is stored on Railway's infrastructure
Resend Email delivery Your email address and message content for notifications and invites
Web Push (browser) Push notifications A device token generated by your browser — not personally identifiable

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any other third party.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database hosted on Railway's infrastructure with persistent storage. Access to the database is restricted to authenticated application requests only. All connections to Spontany are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

While no system is 100% secure, we follow industry-standard practices to protect your information and will notify you promptly if a data breach occurs that affects your account.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You have full control over your data. You can:

ActionHow
View your data Everything you've entered is visible in the app — your calendar, profile, and connections
Edit or correct data Update your profile, custody schedule, or calendar entries at any time
Revoke sharing Remove a partner or friend connection to stop sharing your calendar with them
Disable notifications Turn off push notifications through your browser settings
Delete your account Email us at the address below — we'll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days
Export your data Request a copy of your data by emailing us

If you're located in the EU/EEA (GDPR), California (CCPA), or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you may have additional rights including the right to restrict processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We honor all applicable data protection requests.

8. Cookies & Tracking

Spontany uses essential cookies and local storage only — to keep you logged in and store your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers inside the app.

Our marketing pages (outside the app) may use analytics pixels from Meta, TikTok, and X to measure ad campaign performance. These are limited to the landing page and do not track your activity inside the Spontany app itself.

9. Children's Privacy

Spontany is designed for adults managing custody schedules. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it immediately.

10. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data (like total user counts) may be retained for internal analytics.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notification before they take effect. The "Effective" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
